Learn how automatic tracking plan discovery helps improve data quality, detect issues, and ensure reliable analytics tracking.
In this video, you’ll learn how to:
- Explore all detected destinations like Google Analytics or Amplitude.
- Review events and their properties, including schema details and bulk edits.
- Analyze pages and the relationships between events, attributes, and pixels.
- Visualize all third-party services with Pixels Map for real-time performance monitoring.
- Ensure accurate data flow through your Data Layer and Acquisition dashboards.
With Trackingplan, you see what’s really happening in your tracking — not just what’s on a spreadsheet.
Happy Tracking!

By now, we've guided you through Trackingplan's installation and what happens right after when our algorithm automatically starts learning about your data. Now comes the fun part. Let's dive into all the juicy information Trackingplan has discovered and documented from what your websites or apps are sending to analytics tools, marketing integrations, and pixels. Think of your dashboard as the place to get an overview of the current state of your tracking. Not just what's supposed to work on a spreadsheet, but what's actually happening. Here, Trackingplan will automatically detect all the destinations you're sending your data to, such as Google Analytics or Amplitude, without the need to add them manually. Let's click on any detected provider to get a full breakdown of everything happening there. In the events tab, you'll see all events Trackingplan has discovered from the traffic sent to this provider along with all the properties associated with them. there, our algorithm will automatically interpret which property type and presence is being tracked, flagging anything that doesn't match the expected values. And since many property specs, like their type or whether they're required, are often shared across events, you can also head to the properties tab to edit them in bulk or see exactly in which events each property appears in. Trackingplan also automatically spots user attributes. But don't worry, we don't store or track any personal details. Instead, we just check the flow of that data, ensuring these attributes are sent to your data tools exactly in the format you've defined. The pages tab gives you a clear, organized view of your data, providing you with insights about how your pages are performing daily, weekly, and monthly. This is useful to see on which pages your events are being triggered and directly spot which pages have warnings or issues that need your attention. Moreover, Trackingplan will also list all the pixels and third party services discovered in your frontends automatically for you. This includes not only marketing pixels but also any other type of third party that collects user navigation data such as CDNs, CRM, ERPs and more. This will allow you to set up traffic warnings to monitor their performance and receive alerts if any pixel or service stops receiving traffic entirely or if the traffic spikes or drops unexpectedly. Think of it as a little watchdog for your pixels and third party services, making sure nothing sneaks past you. Trackingplan monitors your data layer, too, giving you a full view of all data layer pushes generated by any interaction in your events. We monitor the data layer on two levels. at page level to understand what should be on each page and at push level to see what actually gets sent. This makes it easy to spot mistakes or missing data so you always know exactly what information is being sent to your servers and analytics tools when events are triggered. At the bottom left of your sidebar, you'll find the acquisition section. Unlike tools like Google or Meta, which process data according to their own rules, Trackingplan provides an unbiased platform agnostic view of your acquisition data. Gathering this information directly from your frontends with support for UTM campaigns, mediums, sources, referers, landings, and pages. Tracking plans, acquisition dashboards offer you a pure, unaltered view of the data directly from the source to help you accurately identify the channels that drive the most valuable traffic to your site. As a bonus track in all the views we've seen throughout the video, you'll be able to refresh your data every 5 minutes, being especially useful for real-time monitoring and staying aligned with the most recent data available at that moment. Finally, to ensure all your events, pixels, and data layer values are consistently tracked across your stack. Tracking plans presence map gives you a clear visual overview of their presence across your pages, UTM parameters, consent settings, and attributions like country, domain, or device. Whether it's identifying compliance issues or answering questions like how many pixels or trackers you have on your site on which pages they're firing on or whether they're working in all countries. Our presence map makes it easy with color-coded indicators and coverage percentages. We hope this video helps you get started with Trackingplan. See you in the next one and in the meantime, happy tracking.
