Customize KPI Sensitivity to Focus on What Matters

July 4, 2025

Not all data anomalies deserve your attention. That’s why we’ve added a new way to fine-tune your alert system and make your reports even more trustworthy.

You can now customize the tolerance levels of your KPIs in Trackingplan — giving you full control over when warnings are triggered for traffic drops, peaks, and missing values.

What’s New

Trackingplan already helps analysts ensure data quality by detecting unexpected changes in key performance indicators (KPIs) — such as a sudden traffic drop or missing conversions.

With this new update, you can now:

  • Set custom tolerance levels for your KPIs
  • Choose how sensitive Trackingplan is to fluctuations
  • Reduce false positives and eliminate unnecessary alerts
  • Focus on meaningful deviations that truly impact your reporting

Whether you want to monitor every small spike or only react to major drops, the control is now in your hands.

Why It Matters

No more alert fatigue. By tailoring how sensitive your KPI warnings are, you can:

  • Improve signal-to-noise ratio: Catch real issues without drowning in minor fluctuations
  • Customize thresholds per KPI depending on expected volatility
  • Build trust in your reporting with more accurate, relevant data alerts

This is especially useful if you're running experiments, dealing with seasonal traffic, or handling multiple environments with different baselines.

How It Works

  1. Head to your KPI settings
  2. Choose a specific KPI you’d like to adjust
  3. Set a custom tolerance level for drops, peaks, or missing values
  4. Save — and let Trackingplan do the rest

Trackingplan will only warn you when deviations exceed the tolerance you’ve defined.

Use Case Example

Let’s say you track daily add-to-cart events. If slight dips are common on weekends, you can set a higher tolerance level to avoid unnecessary warnings — while still being alerted if there’s a significant drop that needs attention.
