DataTrue walks the journeys you define, on a schedule, and its team maintains them for you. Trackingplan reads the hits your real users send. This page covers what DataTrue does, what it charges as published, and when each method fits.

DataTrue
DataTrue describes itself as “Automated tag, analytics, and consent testing for websites and mobile apps.” It scans your pages, walks journeys such as checkout and signup step by step in real browsers, repeats them on a schedule across regions and consent states, and its team configures and maintains the tests and reviews each report.
Trackingplan
Trackingplan reads the hits your real users send to your analytics, marketing and product tools, infers the schema from that traffic, and tells you when a release, a tag or a consent state changes what arrives. No journeys to walk, no schedule, nothing to keep in step with the site.
DataTrue is a testing service for tags, analytics and consent. Its site, in October 2026, says it “continuously tests and monitors the analytics tags, cookies, and consent on your live website and mobile apps”, and that “Our team does the configuration, maintenance and reporting for you.” Every plan comes with a dedicated DataTrue expert and a human-reviewed report.
The work it does: coverage scans of a whole site, step-by-step tests of journeys such as checkout and signup, scheduled runs with alerts by email, Slack or webhook, consent tests per region including Global Privacy Control signals, checks for events that stop firing, wrong IDs, double counting and dataLayer mismatches, validation of iOS and Android SDK events, and pre-release tests of an unpublished Google Tag Manager container or Adobe Tags library. An API comes with the Team plan and an MCP server with Enterprise.
It fits teams that want the synthetic method without running it themselves: an analytics or privacy team that can list the journeys and regions that matter, wants someone else to script and maintain them, and values a report a person has read before it lands.
DataTrue publishes its plans and prices, billed annually and invoiced up front, in US dollars:
There is no setup fee, journey runs are not metered separately, extra domains and journeys are quoted, and a 30-day free trial covers one domain with the base tests. A 90-day exit option exists on a full contract, with the first quarter paid up front.
What the bill scales with: pages loaded during scans and journey steps, domains, and the custom work DataTrue’s team does for you. Coverage is a budget line you set in advance.
A journey sees the steps it walks, on the schedule you set, under the consent states you chose. Between two runs, and on every path that was not scripted, nothing is watched. A property that disappears from the add-to-cart event on one Android version, or a pixel that starts firing before consent in one market, shows up only if a journey happens to pass there.
Metering by pages makes coverage a decision rather than a default: the larger the site, the more you choose what not to scan. And a monthly report, however well reviewed, is a monthly cadence. As Rasmus Frølund of Fact puts it in his story, the question is whether you want to know about problems when they happen, or two weeks after.
Trackingplan does not walk journeys. One tag, SDK or server-side hook, and it reads the hits your real users send to 170+ analytics and ad providers: GA4, GTM, Adobe, Meta, Google Ads, TikTok, your CDP, your consent vendor. Events, properties and funnels are inferred from that traffic, so there is nothing to script, nothing for a team to maintain, and nothing to choose: every page a user visits is covered the moment it gets traffic.
Issues arrive when they appear, grouped, with a root cause and sent to the team responsible for them. The consent state travels with every hit, so a vendor that fired before the banner was answered is caught on the visitor who saw it, not on a simulated one. Pricing follows sessions, not pages scanned: Starter is 89€/month with 300k sessions, Growth 699€/month, Enterprise 2,000€/month, and the 9-day free trial runs on your real traffic.
Where it stops: a page nobody visits produces no hits, so a pre-release test of a container on an empty staging site is a job for a scanner. Teams that need both keep the scanner for the release gate and Trackingplan for everything after it.

trackingplan
Error detection and root cause analysis on real traffic, in every environment, without a journey to maintain.
One tag, SDK or server-side hook. Events appear as traffic flows, on web, mobile and server.
Trackingplan discovers and monitors all the data your apps and websites send to your third-party integrations, whether analytics, marketing automation, pixels or campaigns, right after installation.
Every hit is audited around the clock. When an event, a property or a pixel changes, the issue arrives with its root cause and goes to the team responsible for it.
At the end of the day, as an agency, you have to decide whether you want to know about problems when they happen, or two weeks after they happen.

This isn’t a sales call. A 30–45 minute conversation about your data quality, where a managed test suite fits and where it doesn’t, and whether Trackingplan would catch what the schedule misses.
