Presence Map
One of the biggest challenges in managing digital analytics is ensuring that all your events, pixels, and Data Layer values are consistently and accurately tracked across your entire MarTech ecosystem. Whether it’s detecting missing events on key pages, identifying compliance issues, or ensuring consistency across regions by verifying all your events are captured in every country, gaps in your data can lead to significant inaccuracies and missed opportunities.
That’s why Trackingplan’s Presence Map provides a visual interface to help you track the presence of all your events, pixels, and Data Layer values across your pages, UTM parameters, Consent Settings, and attributions (country, domain, device, etc.).
You’ll find it in the Reports section, located inside Trackingplan’s sidebar, but you can also access it from the Events tab of each of your providers.
Let’s explore its multiple possibilities!
Events Presence Map
Trackingplan’s Presence Map allows you to filter by any analytics provider – such as GA4 or Adobe Analytics – to instantly view the presence of all events associated with these providers across your pages and dimensions.
Color-coded indicators help you understand event distribution and behavior at a glance, while percentages provide quick insights into how extensively each event is tracked across your site or apps.
This helps you easily identify where each event is present or missing and track whether a specific event disappeared or appeared after a release or implementation.
In status mode, Trackingplan uses the following criteria to simplify the task of tracking event coverage. Moreover, by hovering over any of these color-coded dots, you’ll see a message indicating the number of days the event has been detected, a graph of event activity over time, and a direct link to Trackingplan’s Data Explorer for further analysis:
- Green for events that are correctly implemented and firing as expected.
- Blue for new events that have started firing recently and were not detected in previous audits. Ideal for quickly verifying whether your recently added events are correctly firing and reaching their intended analytics destinations after a release.
If no event has been detected on a specific page, this will be represented with a dash ("-").
Alternatively, you can switch to percentage mode, which shows the exact coverage rate of your events, pixels, Data Layer values, or consent settings across your pages and dimensions.
This view is especially useful for identifying events with partial implementation or inconsistent tracking, as it highlights the percentage of total hits received. It’s ideal when you need more precision or want to analyze coverage trends in greater depth.
But this doesn't stop at pages! Our Presence Map lets you take your tracking analysis further by grouping your events across Attributions, UTMs, and Consent Options.
This functionality is particularly useful for quickly identifying issues and ensuring consistency in your tracking setup. Here are a few use cases:
Monitoring Compliance with Consent Settings
For instance, for your Google Analytics 4 and Google Ads providers, grouping your events by Google Consent Settings allows you to easily detect cases where data is being sent from locations where it shouldn't be. For example, you might discover that you’re sending tracks to events whose consent for storing information has been denied.

Ensuring Consistent Tracking Across Countries
By grouping by country, you can easily verify that your analytics setup is consistent across all regions. For instance, you might notice that the event pdp
(Product Detail Page), which should be captured in all countries, is missing in France. This allows you to address gaps in your tracking and maintain uniformity.
Pixel Presence Map
By automatically warning you whenever a pixel disappears on the landings you’re sending traffic to, you can get it fixed before it affects your performance, ensuring you’re measuring it correctly to optimize ROAS and gain strategic insights for your next marketing strategies.
This is useful for answering things like:
🤔 How many pixels or trackers do we have on our site?
🤔 On which pages are they triggering?
🤔 Has the Facebook Ad Conversion Pixel been removed from this landing in the last release?
🤔 Are all my pixels working in all countries?
Moreover, you’ll also be able to see and inspect your Pixels as a destination.
Here are some of the tabs you’ll see in there:
- Overview tab: Gain a clear view of the performance of your analytics and marketing pixels. This tab provides a complete record of all warnings —both ongoing and historical—associated with your pixels. Use this to quickly identify issues that could impact data quality or marketing campaign performance.
- Pixels tab: This tab lists all the pixels Trackingplan has automatically discovered in your frontends.
- Properties tab: Dive deeper into the specific properties tracked by each pixel, such as event parameters or custom attributes, ensuring essential properties like
transaction_id
orproduct_id
are consistently captured across all pixels. - Metrics tab: Explore detailed metrics related to your pixels' performance and behavior. These metrics can include the number of events sent, success rates, or discrepancies in data transmission (e.g.: Monitor the number of
pageviews
sent by each pixel and ensure they match expected traffic volumes). - KPIs tab: Track the key performance indicators (KPIs) that matter most to your business. This tab helps you monitor critical data points and ensure your tracking aligns with business goals.
By treating Pixels as a destination, you can set up traffic warnings to monitor their performance. These alerts will notify you if any pixel stops receiving traffic entirely or if the traffic exceeds or falls below a specified threshold, ensuring you catch potential issues early. You also have the option to set traffic warning tolerances, giving you control over how sensitive the alerts should be.
Data Layer Presence Map
Trackingplan’s Presence Map also provides a centralized interface for managing and monitoring the presence and performance of your Data Layer values across all pages, regions, devices, and more. This is useful for detecting missing values, identifying inconsistencies, and monitoring the health of your Data Layer implementation.
Whether it's ensuring the correct transaction_id
is captured across all order confirmation pages or verifying the presence of product_id
on product detail pages, the Data Layer Presence Map simplifies debugging and maintenance of your data layer setup.
As with Pixels, you’ll also be able to see and inspect your Data Layer values as a destination.
Here are some of the tabs you’ll see in there:
- Overview tab: A summary of the health and performance of your Data Layer values. This includes a complete record of warnings – both historical and ongoing– for missing or incorrectly implemented values.
- Events tab: The Events tab allows you to see which Data Layer values are present for specific events.
- Properties tab: Dive deeper into the specific properties of your Data Layer.
- Metrics tab: Analyze detailed metrics related to the performance of your Data Layer values.
- KPIs tab: Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) derived from your Data Layer values.
This also means you’ll be able to set up traffic warnings to monitor the performance of your Data Layer values and set traffic warning tolerances for them, giving you control over how sensitive the alerts should be.
Sharing Options
To make collaboration and analysis easier, you can export your entire Presence Map as a CSV file. This allows you to share it with your team or analyze it further using your preferred tools.
